Wandering Seminar 2006

The MP Research Network established with the Wandering Seminar on Scientific Objects not only its first project but also a new form of international cooperation. The principal aim of this format is to provide junior scholars of the history of science with first hand information about the latest developments in the field of material culture of science. Participants have the opportunity to visit and work with rare collections Europe-wide, such as the Whipple Museum, Cambridge or the Medical History Museum, Berlin. Museums present themselves as sites for research and working place for historians of science. The Seminar curriculum includes discussions with exhibition makers as well as curators on conservation work, exhibition programmes, and questions such as: How to present the work of a historian of science to the general public? How to choose and display objects for narrating the history of science? The participants of the Seminar 2006 presented the results in a Workshop organized by the group itself in 2007, on an Exhibition and a Website. Wandering Seminar 2006
