An international conference on the Exhibition as Product and Generator of Knowledge took place at the Deutsches Museum, Munich, in November 2008. One of the central questions was: is the exhibition a serious form of dissemination and what are the criteria to evaluate this? From a structural point of view, one of the main aims of the conference is to involve diverse communities of academics working at research institutions as well as historians of science based at museums. The proceedings of the conference are going to be published in 2009.
